AVOID MAKING YOUR RV EXPERIENCE A BAD ONE

Not often, but from time to time we run across people in the RV industry who do not give good service to our fellow RVers.  When a problem with poor service or bad products is brought to our attention it is investigated by our staff and posted here.

Volunteer Park Family Campground, Heiskell, Tennessee

A couple of our members have reported being put in very bad sites at this park. One member reports he was escorted to his site by staff, upon arrival the hook-ups were in front of his steering will, his motor home connections were at the rear of his coach. This member was only offered water and electric being told sewer was not offered to overnight guest. The member looked around the park and noted that there were at least empty full hook-up sites in close proximity to the one he could not use, these were much better sites. He did ask why he could not get one of those but was not given answer. You can imagine the type of experience this member had with this park after traveling all day and being treated in this manner. The member went to this park under his RPI membership and paid just as any other member would, but was told he could not have sewer if he was only staying one night.  We have read RPI rules and can find no such rule.  The member in all reality was not offered any hook-up as there was no real way his or anyone else equipment would reach.  The end result was the member requested a refund and went to another park.

Another member went to this same park and was told they had no spaces for his membership but if he would pay double his membership he could get a space, he was tired and paid.  Upon his return to this same park on his way home, the park representative  wanted to charge him double the price he paid before, he refused and found another park.

POOR SERVICE BY IHOP #547 LOCATED AT 3601 BLADENSBURG RD., COLMAR MANOR MD. 207822

On 7-5-04 one of our members visited the IHOP restaurant on Bladensburg Rd in Colmar Manor Maryland, their visit was not a pleasant one. They arrived at the restaurant at 7:15 pm,  ordered  their meals at 7:18 pm and then the wait began, they waited for their food until 8:15 Pm, there were three in their party but only two meals arrived at this time the third arrived about 5 minutes later. Now normally you would receive your salad which comes with the meal at the beginning of the meal, well this one came at the end, therefore they requested it be packaged so they could take it home. Upon asking for a manager to complain about the issue, they were told that no manager was working that night instead they spoke with a senior employee that was there, he stated he was not really authorized to handle this type thing but he would take 20 percent off the bill.

On 7-6-04 we contacted the management of IHOP #547 about this issue and explain our members concern of this unusually long wait for their food preparation. They ordered milk, it was brought out right away.  It was of course warm by the time the food arrived but were not given more. The member felt that since the restaurant was nearly empty there was no reason for this long wait as their orders were pretty straight forward (nothing special). The manager we spoke with who gave the name of TJ, stated they had a problem with the temperature of their ovens, should our members have been told this? He agreed they should have but stated his employees did not know of this problem. We wonder why? At this time we have not reached a satisfactory resolution  to this complaint due to the non concern of the management of this establishment, but we will continue to climb the ladder of this establishment until we do. Until then we do advise members to take note of these fact and keep them in mind if you are in the area of this IHOP.
